Has Technology Ruined Relationships?

This is a “revisit” from a post, or blog I asked about a few years ago:

(Is Technology Ruining, or Wrecking Relationships?).

Again, the question simply is: “Has Technology Ruined Relationships?” This topic came up on a radio program, (yes, I still listen to radio) and the program I was listening to was geared to “LIKES” on Instagram, or Facebook. This apparently seems to be a sore subject with a ton of people, and I also wonder if it has something to do with today's culture?

To me, certain things are not “binary” or to clarify, “on/off, black or white, in or out, yes or no”. When it comes to comments regarding my friends, or to a subject on social media, “A LIKE” could be more or less an “analog” response. Again, to clarify “an analog response” is simply to use a scale to measure response. In this situation, to say on a scale of 1 to 10, with 1 being the low number & 10 being the high number, anything over the number 5 is a like and anything under would be a “No response, or a thumbs down(👎)”. Also, a “Heart” (💖) would indicate “A LIKE” , or a “Thumbs-Up” (👍) thus a “Positive Response”.

It seems, (to me), that things have gotten to the point that it’s either “I hate you, or I like you” and if this sounds familiar, not only is this happening in real life, with relationships, it’s happening in politics. Just think about it, and yes, there is going to be some hypocrisy with certain things but, in some cases especially with life, not everything is black and white. Sorry, we have to take the good & the bad, or the bad & the good. There is no right or wrong, or wrong or right way to say that statement.

Of course, some person will have some thing to say, or some English literature person will be pointing out every little grammar, or grammatical error. One thing that should be clear, my approach is mathematical. In other words, 1 + 2 is equal to 3 & 2 +1 is also equal to 3. That is a fact and that is black & white from a human point of view. With that in mind, because most technical analysis is mathematical, how do you express a like or dis-like for something without it being taken out of context?

If I’m friends with someone for 20+ years and I don’t like something they posted or even something they may like, & you may hate it, does that now mean I can’t be friends with you anymore or “Like you”? How about if I’ve never met a person, we don’t event speak the same language, and I post a like for them or some subject matter that they posted. Does that now mean I’m going a friend (BFF), or I’m instantly in love with someone now that I follow them on social media? Do I just forget all of my morals or other obligations because I saw something on social media?

This whole thing just doesn’t make any sense. Should this stir up emotions, yes. Should this be a topic to have a serious discussion about, yes. Should there be a “binary response” this subject? I say no. I think as a whole,  or “Globally” this topic need to be studied & reviewed and just like in real life, (or politics) there should be a logical approach to handling technology, whether it be the upgrade to some software or the upgrade to  a social media platform.

To The Autodesk Community Moderators...

Quick Note to the Autodesk Community Moderators….
Just wanted to follow up with anyone that monitors input to the forum.
Lately there seems to be a problem with setting up the format of board posting. I actually think for me at least, this has been a problem since 2013, or basically since the community board updated the site. Prior to this “Upgrade” I really have had no major complaints, in fact from showing other CAD users here in my office how the forums worked we were able to resolve problems here in the office by a simply  “Goggling” the question, or problem, reviewing what was on the forum and resolving the issue.
Again, prior to 2013,  If the problem we had was not listed or shown, for me  there seemed to be no issues with asking or posting the question adding the screen views, or attachments.
Now, (since 2013) this seems to be a problem. When I researched this issue and found that others were having the same issue, (link xxx), I thought for sure the moderators would at worst go back to the old format, and at best “Fix” how the forum currently works.
Well… (at least for me) the issues with uploading or changing the format of how postings get listed “STILL” is not working properly.
Yes… I was able to post the question, and yes, I was able to get a partial resolution, if not the whole answer in a nutshell but… the initial posting of the question had to be done in several attempts, and “Just like This Post” formatting of the questions and inclusion of attachments did not work so we had to go another route. By the way, I am posting this on my own personal blog (Tech-Info and Rants) and it should be in the right format as I intended to show.
Most likely as dgorsman (http://forums.autodesk.com/t5/user/viewprofilepage/user-id/253793) has pointed out to me on my other community board postings, this will look like a “Wall of Text”
Today’s alert (10/07/2016):
BTW… I’m sure this is exactly what anyone that has been “Forced” to move to a subscription plan was afraid of:

Forum post prior to 2013: (In the AutoCAD Board)

(Note: The text is in “Paragraph Format” & “Attachments are allowed, or included)

Yet another Forum post prior to 2013: (in REVIT)
(Note: Again, the text is in “Paragraph Format” & “Attachments are allowed, or included)

My Most Current Forum post: (10/05/2016)
(Note: Text is “Not in paragraph format” thus creating a “Wall of Text” & attachment were omitted)

Comments received about my current forum post: (10/05/2016)
(Note: Text is “Still Not in paragraph format” thus creating a “Wall of Text” & attachments and linking to other post, or members that can help within the forum were omitted).

Is Technology Ruining, or Wrecking Relationships?

I have a serious question here. Is Technology Ruining, or Wrecking Relationships? No, really… has there been a situation where an argument broke out between you and your partner because of an “Upgrade” of some new device that maybe wasn’t around  10 years ago and now you can’t live without?

I have been victim of this several times and it has nothing to with me being a “Techie” and yet I get the blame. Our latest “Issue” was the fact that the windows versions keep upgrading. Eventually, we will need a new computer. Preferably a laptop since our keyboards have taken a beating from our dogs (that’s another story). Anyway, just for that reason alone (forget the fact that the computer is over 6 years old) I decided to buy a new laptop “just in case” and backup the old one.
Well… that was a waste of time. Not because of the backup (BTW most people should know to back-up their machines) but the whole time spent buying a new computer, set-up networking and installing software. Ugh… I’ve spent more time trying “Flush” the information, the software, network information etc., etc., etc.,… just because of windows 8. To make matters worse, trying the “Easy Virtual Machine” thingy was also a waste of time since the new laptops have an entirely new look and feel.
To save peace, for now we will stick with our old machine, and possibly do a repair to our keyboard (if at all possible) but moving ahead,
1.)    Are there any “New” machines with the “old-style” laptop looks / keyboard & tab buttons?
2.)    Is there an “Easy Way” to setup a “Virtual Machine” without going to an “IT” person?

Just saying and Just asking....
