After a good family function this weekend we arrive home to bad economic news.
It seems that because of the seasonally adjusted unemployment rate in New Jersey, my better half's (and everyone else), “Extended Unemployment Benefits” HAVE BEEN CUT !!!
The last date for extended benefits will be July 7th.
Up until this time we were not worried, hearing that other people have been out of work for a year and still collecting. By the way my better half has been actively seeking a new job for over 18 months. She started looking before she got the layoff, or “down-sized” notices. She's been to the city (New York City) looking for work, and she's has even applied for work at our local grocery (ShopRite, or Wakefern) knowing it would be more than 50% pay cut.
To me, this is nuts… a person that had her own business for over 20 years,
(25 actually in the hair products industries) went back to school and changed careers to become an Administrative Assistant and has done that for over 10 years and she can’t even fine work as a check-out person or whatever they call the people who take your order, or money.
I can’t imagine what everyone else that’s unemployed is going though right now.
