Slowing Down a High End Computer???

My Weekend Rant….(Sorry, I’ve just got to get this off my chest).
So, since Thursday I’ve kind of been in one of those funks where "Murphy’s Law" is the normal day to day, or the old saying “the only constant is change” comes to reality.
What happened is this, in order for me to do a “certain job” we needed a high performance computer (see my last blog). I’ve been asking around and the consensus is for “B.I.M.” work (Building Information Modeling), you need a high end computer, (64bit, quad core processor, video card, tons of ram etc., etc., etc…) that’s capable of handling this software. We had this figured out gave the information to our IT group and what happens… you guess it, they “downgraded” everything, well not everything.

So far it at least looks like the video card may be alright. I won’t know till I really give this a test drive. And why haven’t I tested this yet?
Because, the software I need to test out this computer is still in the office.
So since Friday I’ve been downloading test software, or moving the right files to work with from one computer to another. All this while, helping out for a wedding,
(which means I’ll be missing performing in a drum corps show Saturday),
getting more lumber for my deck, (which is still in pieces) and still trying to meet a Sunday deadline. Doesn’t leave me very much time to test-out the new software :-(.
